When was the last time you went on a great and daring adventure?

Chock full of mystery, suspense and intrigue, The Pelican Trees allows each reader to do just that, each step carefully orchestrated by a loving grandfather (already in Heaven) trying to rescue his precious granddaughter and the rest of his family from eternal condemnation.

Shocking...

Left out of her grandfather's will for no apparent reason, Shelby McKinney mysteriously receives a post-dated letter a few days later, stating that he hadn't forgotten about her after all. But if she wants her inheritance, she must find it buried six-feet beneath the sand somewhere in the state of Florida.

Exciting...

The only available clues--limited as they are--were stored in a bank safe-deposit box somewhere in the Sunshine State. Shelby is given 90 days to locate the bank, decipher all clues and find her buried inheritance. If she doesn't find it within the 90-day time frame, she'll be forced to forfeit it altogether.

Riveting...

Facing insurmountable odds, Shelby's exciting family adventure quickly turns dangerous when the wife and mother of three discovers she isn't the only one searching for the buried treasure chest. Six extremely dangerous men are carefully monitoring her every move, fully determined to use any and all necessary measures to steal it from her the moment she unearths it.

Suspenseful...

Not only does this tumultuous voyage of self-discovery nearly cost Shelby her life, she is confronted by the ever-present spirit world like never before!

Soul-lifting...

But with 140 strangers constantly praying for her, Shelby McKinney ultimately realizes the adventure her late grandfather sent her on was so much more than a personal quest to find her buried inheritance.

Life-transforming...

In the end, Shelby McKinney finds so much more than buried treasure underneath the pelican trees....

Not only are the "race and forgiveness factors" palpable throughout the entire story, there are enough twists and turns to keep you guessing until the very end, making this a compelling read. If you're looking for the perfect "summer read", look no further...

The Pelican Trees edition by Patrick Higgins A Grateful Believer Literature Fiction eBooks

The Pelican Trees has a great story line! It is captivating. The characters are well defined - I felt as though I knew each one of them. It is exciting. The reader never knows what is going to happen (even though we suspect how it will all turn out in the end.) It was hard to put down.

That said, the reason I gave it a 3 was because it needed an editor, preferably someone with a good knowledge of proper English. Constantly the wrong case of pronouns was used. I don't know how many times sentences had a singular subject with a plural verb. As one other reviewer said, parts became tedious. The descriptions of the spiritual warfare were overdone. We didn't the repetition of demon description. How many times in the book were we told how long ago Luther had moved to Florida and all the details of Mabel's husband's death, the trial, and her forgiveness of the man who killed him. The 364 pages could easily have been reduced to 264 and nothing would have suffered.

If the reader isn't bothered by things like that, I'd say is is a wonderful book and highly recommend it.

The Pelican Trees edition by Patrick Higgins A Grateful Believer Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Luther Mellon leaves his inheritance for his family members, but omits his favorite granddaughter, Shelby. Instead, he sends her on a wild family adventure complete with safety deposit boxes, secrets, intrigue, cops and robbers.

It is a brilliant story, which was hard to put down at times.

At other times, the writing is tedious and I found myself "fast-forwarding" through pages and pages of dialogue which offered little new information or insight into the story-line. This is a book for believers. It clearly shares the gospel, but would require more editing to be effective as a witnessing tool.
I like the way this kept well within biblical principles. The story line was riveting and really kept my interest. I really liked that not only salvation was key the forgiveness was an equally important issue we often push out of our vision because it just seems to hard.
Couldn't stop reading. God's love and plan of salvation was beautifully presented throughout the entire story. Even as a long time Christian it still gives you the realization that all are reformed sinners. God bless you as you read and examine your life and Christian walk.
A Christian story of God's unending love and forgiveness. A wonderful message wrapped in a story of Shelby McKinney who's grandfather dies and leaves her an inheritance that she must find buried in the sand on a beach in Florida. She has ninety days to find a bank that has a safety deposit box with more direction on how to find the treasure. Shelby takes her family to Florida to begin her treasure hunt. But there is much more at stake. There are greedy men also hunting for the treasure that will stop at nothing to get it, even kill. Shelby is also confronted with God's unending spirit. She doesn't know that there are one hundred strangers praying for Shelby to make the right decision. There is spiritual warfare and diabolical schemes that Shelby finds herself trying to overcome. The underlining theme of the story is forgiveness and salvation. The suspense and struggles and feat of faith and forgiveness kept this reader reading continuously till the end.
I finished reading this book today This s a very good book. I highly recommend it to everyone. I have never read a book as awesome as this one. It touched my heart and I found myself close to tears several times. I can't think of the words to say how much I love this book.
Wonderful story. Patrick Higgins books are so good. I don't know how he does it but the man is a genius. I love all his books. This book was really a great read and such a wonderful concept. I wish there was more authors in the world today like Patrick Higgins the world would be a better place if people read books like this.
I just purchased this book last week and finished reading it in less than a week. This is one of the few books I have read in my lifetime that I had a hard time putting down. The book was chalked full of mystery, suspense, action, teary-eyed, joyful, and miraculous moments all wrapped up in one. I enjoyed reading each page in this book because it kept getting better and better. I loved the fact that a number of people in Shelby's life found their way to having a relationship with God. This book really does reveal the kind of wonderful newfound life one can have with God and that He truly does exist for all those non-believers in this world. I was so glad this book had a such a great ending and it made it all the worthwhile to read it. I will most definitely continue to tell others about this book and also purchase extra copies for others who I know that could truly benefit from reading it. How amazing it would be if this book was made into a movie for the whole world to see. I always feel truly blessed when I learn the news that another Christian has written another great book or a producer has created a wonderful movie. These are the kind of books that continue to inspire every Christian and to never lose hope or trust in God's word and His love. I want to thank this truly gifted author from the bottom of my heart for writing this book that I pray will touch the lives of many for years to come and that they may come to grow and have a relationship with God. Rating 111%
